All about Sharbian carpet in Iran

Sharbian carpet is one of the light rural carpets that is woven in Sharbian region located in East Azarbaijan province in northwestern Iran. In this carpet, symmetrical knots are used with cotton thread and woolen lint. Geometry, elasticity and bergamot are common and black designs, navy blue, red, blue and ivory are the common colors of Sharbian carpets.

It is one of the two most important economies and industries in carpet weaving. Which has a special place after agriculture. The textile and carpet weaving characteristics of Sharbian have distinguished the carpets of this region from other regions. Sharbian carpets are often exported to foreign countries. The high value of Sharbian’s mind increases with time and becoming older. This has attracted more customers. However, the recent use of substandard and poor quality chemical paints has caused a lot of damage to the Sharbian carpet market. Among these harmful effects, we can mention the decrease in demand for Sharbian carpets.

Sharbian carpet design is woven with floral and plant designs. One of the famous maps of Sharbian carpet is the map of snakes. In which the flower stems were colored with different colors and with many twists and turns, small flowers were woven inside the stem. And at the end of the flower opened like the mouth of a snake that was bent to the sides in a playful state.
