Almond production hub is not in good condition
Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province ranks first in the country with 20% of Iran’s almond production. Annually, more than 24,000 tons of different types of almonds are produced in this province as the almond hub of the country, and most of the midwifery cultivar is exported to India.
Despite many gardeners in the cities of Bon and Saman in the field of almond production, but in the almond production hub of the country, there are no conversion and complementary industries to process and package this product, and this is done in workshops outside the province, so that it is exported. It is done through the customs of other provinces.
Traders and traders make the most profit from almond production in this province by buying almonds, and gardeners get a small profit.
Unfortunately, not only the export of this product but also most of the products produced in the province are done from Bandar Abbas and Isfahan customs.
Ebrahim Shirani, director of horticulture affairs of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Jihad Agricultural Organization, stated: The area under almond cultivation in the province is 14,000 hectares, of which 4,500 hectares are allocated to midwifery almonds, which means that in one third of the orchards, midwifery almonds are cultivated. It becomes.
He added: out of the total almond orchards in the province, 12,000 hectares are fertile and 2,000 hectares are infertile, and the average almond harvest per hectare is 2 tons.
Shirani pointed out that the main almond orchards are in Saman and Bonn, and specified: Due to the frost in the orchards, especially the almond orchards, the production of almonds has halved compared to last year, so that last year 24,000 tons of almonds It was harvested from the orchards of the province, but this year this amount was reduced by half.
Regarding the sale of raw materials for this product, he said: If the almonds of the province are not sold raw, the producer will definitely get more added value.
The director of horticulture of Jihad Keshavarzi of the province said: if there was a packing and processing workshop in the province, its added value would definitely be effective for the province.
He added: Unfortunately, the problem of gardeners in the province is that the product can not be processed and packaged in the province, so that in addition to benefiting the farmer, it will lead to the prosperity of the province.
