American desire to buy Iranian kilims and carpets
The Deputy Minister of Handicrafts said: Iranian flooring and underlays were well received at an exhibition held by the private sector in Germany, and the American businessmen who visited it are eager to buy carpets and kilims from Iran. Our businessmen are in talks to highlight their activities with the United States.
Bahman Namvar Motlagh said about the memorandum he signed during his visit to France: During the recent visit of the President of Iran to France, on behalf of Iran, a memorandum on cultural heritage was signed with the Louvre Museum in Paris, which I did and this memorandum It had nothing to do with handicrafts.
He continued: The exhibition of Iranian handicrafts in France was a good program, which according to French people interested in handicrafts and Iranians living in Paris, in the last 15 years, no such program was held to introduce Iranian handicrafts in Paris.
The Deputy Minister of Handicrafts explained why a memorandum of understanding on handicrafts has not been signed with France: France has details and experiences in the field of tourism that it is going to transfer to Iran. In the field of cultural heritage, there are many works of Iran in the Louvre Museum and this country can transfer its experiences to Iran, so two agreements on tourism and cultural heritage were signed with France, but we do not need in the field of handicrafts. We do not have the experiences of the French. We only need to get their markets, which requires agreements with their private companies.
We have started talks with some private companies and we need more research to lead to a memorandum of understanding, Namvar Motlagh said. Fortunately, the conditions are being prepared for us to be able to hold more exhibitions there in the future and strengthen our trade relations with this country. We are ready to enter their market little by little, and to do this we need to know their markets and tastes well.
He also said: It is a good thing that the municipality of Paris provides us with a free space for the exhibition and does not expect anything from us for this, while the municipality of our country does not do so. In his speech, the mayor of Paris expressed his surprise at the handicrafts.
The Deputy Minister of Handicrafts said: I think the young generation of handicrafts in our country has a good understanding of market knowledge and this will bring good results.
We had an exhibition in Germany and France last month, and soon we will have an exhibition in Russia, Namour Motlagh said of the next handicrafts program to be held in other countries.
