Annual production of 100000 transplanted walnut seedlings in Hamedan
The Deputy Minister of Horticulture of the Jihad Agriculture Organization of Hamadan Province said: We have planned to produce 100,000 transplanted walnut seedlings in the province every year since 1393.
Hojjatullah Shahbazi added: For this purpose, 70 greenhouses have been established in the cities of Hamedan and Tuyserkan, and it is expected that we will be able to produce this amount of seedlings for 2014 and thus provide part of the country’s needs.
He continued: within the next two years, a significant part of the production of transplanted walnut seedlings, which is needed by the country, should be done in Hamadan province.
He stated: Considering that Kerman province has the highest area in terms of walnut orchards compared to Hamedan province, but Hamedan is higher than them in terms of production, in other words, their yield per hectare is lower than our province.
He specified: At present, the yield of walnut orchards in Hamedan province is one thousand kilos per hectare, so that the average production of the country is 900 kilos and the production of the province is two tons.
Shahbazi said: Several cases are involved in this, including the good climatic conditions of the province for walnut production and having hardworking and experienced gardeners, which increases production per hectare.
He pointed out: The Jihad Agricultural Organization has also had plans for this issue, which we have entered with the gardeners in connection with the nutrition and improvement of the gardens.
He further said: Hamedan has less water problems than the walnut-growing provinces of the country, while Kerman has severe water problems, and this causes walnut orchards to be infected with pests, especially tapeworms, and annoy gardeners.
The director of horticulture affairs of Hamedan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization, stating that the gardens of Hamedan province are less infected with these pests, added: considering that water shortage provides the conditions for creating pests, we must have water management in our agenda, otherwise the gardens are prone to They will be pests for attack.
He continued: Gardeners fight mechanically every year to get rid of pests.
Shahbazi stated: Walnut is one of the organic products that the least toxins and chemical fertilizers are used in these gardens.
He said: In addition to increasing the quality of production of products day by day, production must also be improved in terms of quantity and thus increase the per capita production of gardeners’ products per person, which is one of the duties of the organization that with all its might We will do it.
The director of horticulture affairs of Hamedan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization also pointed out how the walnut festival is held in Hamedan and said: this festival is held every two years because it must have a scientific burden and the credit spent for the significant achievement that it brings to the people. Do not be fruitless.
