Annual production of 160,000 tons of onions in Kermanshah
The head of the Agricultural Jihad Organization of Kermanshah province, stating that onions harvest in the province will start in the next one or two months and will be marketed, said: onion produced in this province due to late harvest will not have much effect on adjusting the price of this product.
Khosrow Shahbazi, referring to the increase in the price of onions in the past month and its price reaching about four thousand tomans, said that the price of onions is a function of supply and demand.
Shahbazi expressed his hope that the price of this product would be adjusted within the next 10 to 15 days with the arrival of onions in other provinces.
He went on to say that about two thousand hectares of the province’s lands are cultivated with onions annually, adding that the average onion yield in Kermanshah province is 80 tons per hectare.
Shahbazi added: about 160,000 tons of onions are produced annually in this province.
According to the head of the Kermanshah Agricultural Jihad Organization, onion production in the province is about three times the province’s needs.
Shahbazi, stating that most of the onions produced in Kermanshah province are produced in Harsin city, said: The onions produced in this city are among the high quality and delicious onions that have a high shelf life.
He added: The onion produced in Harsin city is of Azarshahr red type, which in addition to high storage properties, also has a high nutritional value.
According to Shahbazi, in addition to Harsin, we also cultivate onions in the cities of Kermanshah, Ravansar, etc.
