Ardabil nomadic handicrafts pave the way for history in the world
Nasser Mahmoudi, referring to the production of various types of underlays, including carpets, kilims and varnishes by the province’s handicrafts activists, added: “There are many handicrafts in this province in different regions, which have even reached the export stage.”
He added: “Verni Moghan is one of the seven handicrafts that won the International Geographical Index of UNESCO in 1998.”
He added: “This handicraft, which is mainly produced and exported, belongs to the tribes and the great Shahsun tribe, in the texture of which silk is also used and exported to European countries, West Asia and the East and the United States.”
The head of the handicrafts department of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Ardabil province mentioned kilim as one of the other important handicrafts of the province and said: It is also rural and nomadic.
Mahmoudi considered these handicrafts to be the product of women’s leisure time and added: “Usually, nomadic tribes are engaged in animal husbandry and dairy production in the summer, and in the winter, they have the opportunity to produce these industries, including varnishes and kilims.”
He said: “In the villages and areas where agriculture is done, rural women usually produce carpets and kilims in the autumn and winter seasons, which are free from agricultural work, and display their artistic taste and talent in the form of these weaves.”
Ardabil is one of the leading provinces in the field of handicrafts in Iran and the hands of artists in each region of this province have been creating valuable goods and works in this field since ancient times.
More than 120,000 people in Ardabil province are employed in 62 different fields of handicrafts.
Ardabil leather and tapestry, Namin mosaic, Khalkhal stone mosaic and mosaic, Anbar kilim, jajim weaving, carpet weaving, palace weaving, verni weaving, glass cutting, weaving, pottery, knife making, engraving and mosaic tiles are among the famous handicrafts. Ardabil province.
