The coordinator of the project to study the compatibility of some dryland almond cultivars in Ilam province said:
Almonds and grapes have favorable conditions for the development of rainfed orchards in the province.

Akbar Ismaili stated:
Due to the suitable planting conditions for the development of rainfed orchards in the province, almonds and grapes were suggested as suitable crops.

Ismaili added:
For this purpose, in order to select suitable almond cultivars, a plan to study the compatibility of some almond cultivars in the form of a pilot project was implemented in 2012, in which 10 cultivars were planted.

Executor of the study of compatibility of some rain-fed almond cultivars in the province continued: Morphological and phenological characteristics of cultivars were recorded and it was shown that the cultivars had suitable growth and development so that in the third year after planting they entered the flowering period.

In the end, he said: the progress of the project and the selection of the best cultivars are under review and after the completion of the project, the results will be announced and will be provided to gardeners and the implementation department.
