Barberry cultivation in sloping lands of North Khorasan
The Deputy Minister of Crop Production Improvement of the North Khorasan Agricultural Jihad Organization announced the cultivation of plants in the sloping lands of the province.
Mohammad Javad Tashkari, pointing out that this organization intends to implement this project in susceptible areas, said: Expert activities are underway to cultivate water-hungry plants in low-rainfall areas and water-demanding plants in rainy areas.
He said that the province has a high capacity to implement this project due to its mountainous nature, adding: By implementing this project, soil erosion will be prevented to a large extent.
Tashkari continued: We are trying to cultivate plants such as almonds, barberry, dahlias and jujube in sloping lands of water-scarce areas.
He said: Applicants who have enough land and water can get the necessary support by referring to this organization.
The official in response to the question of whether olives will be planted in these lands? He said: Any area that is prone to cultivating this plant will be cultivated.
He added: Currently, 100 hectares of this plant have been cultivated in Aq Mazar region, located in Maneh and Samolghan cities, and this city is a suitable area for cultivating this plant due to its humid weather.
The Deputy Minister of Crop Production Improvement of the North Khorasan Jihad Agricultural Organization continued: We are trying to increase the area under cultivation of this crop to 400 hectares.
