Barberry harvest from the gardens of South Khorasan

Barberry is one of the most important agricultural products of South Khorasan and Zirkuh city. The area under cultivation of this crop in Zirkuh is about 4,000 hectares, which is expected to be harvested about 10,500 tons more from the gardens of Zirkuh this year.
Afin village and Zahan village are among the important centers of barberry production in South Khorasan and in the country. Also, the largest barberry garden in the world with an area of about 400 hectares is located in Afin village.
The barberry harvest season is from mid-October to mid-October, and if you pass through these areas these days, the red barberry harvest and the hardworking people who are cleaning the barberry in the corners will attract your attention.
South Khorasan, with 17,900 hectares of barberry orchards and 21,000 tons of annual harvest, has 98% of the country’s barberry production.
Iran is also the largest producer of barberry in world trade and South Khorasan is the main producer of this product in the country.
