Barberry harvest is reduced by 30% in Ghainat
The director of Ghaen Agricultural Jihad said: This year, the amount of barberry harvest in Ghaenat has decreased by 30% compared to the same period last year.
Before noon today, Ghasemi, while visiting the barberry orchards of this city, said that the area under barberry cultivation in Qaen is 5,817 hectares and added: of this amount, 543 hectares are infertile seedlings and 5,274 hectares are fertile.
He said: It is predicted that due to the annual barberry and the damage of hail and spring frosts, 18,000 tons of fresh barberry will be harvested from the city’s orchards this year, which is about 30% less than last year.
The director of Ghaen Agricultural Jihad stated that the number of barberry farmers in this city is 13,000 and said: Horticulture experts of Ghaen Agricultural Jihad Management distributed 55,000 barberry stalks last year as a subsidy among farmers.
Ghasemi pointed out: 765 tons of chemical fertilizers were distributed among farmers and currently 2 barberry processing and packaging units are active in this city.
