Barberry is effective for removing pimples and blemishes on the face
The head of the Kohnehken research center of the North Khorasan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization said: Barberry is effective for removing pimples and blemishes on the face.
Dr. Ali Dadar added: Barberry has a significant amount of calcium, phosphorus, potash, iron, manganese and sodium, which phosphorus and potash are effective for the brain and relaxation of the nerves.
Barberry contains berberine, which is anti-parasitic, and its extract can also be the best beverage, he said.
Barberry is anti-lipid, soothing, blood-forming and kidney-clearing, and is also effective in quenching thirst, he said.
He said: The people of North Khorasan, with the beginning of the autumn season and the harvest of barberry, prepare a traditional soup called barberry soup, which is cooked with hot onion, some barberry juice and a little licorice.
Dr. Dadar further stated: Barberry belongs to the family (Berberidaceae) and is a shrub. He pointed out that the barberry plant includes 10 genera and about 200 species, adding: Some species of barberry are ornamental and are planted in gardens, but other types of these fruits have clustered and sour fruits that have food flavoring uses.
He stated that barberry is practically prone to desert, dry, hot and sunny climates, he said: This plant usually grows in sandy, clay soils and at altitudes of more than 1000 meters and temperatures of more than 35 degrees Celsius in North Khorasan province.
According to him, this plant is mostly seen in areas such as Shah Jahan, Hatem Khan Shirvan and Milan Levi Esfarayen mountain ranges. Dadar added: Ateli and Papili border strip located in the border part of Raz and Jorglan Bojnourd, are pristine and unique areas in terms of covering this type of plant.
Regarding the appearance of this plant, he said: Barberry shrubs have no stomata and have a large number of thorns, which are caused by the deformation of thorns, and the leaves of some of these species are complete oval and in some round.
He stated that the fruiting time of this plant is mid-May and said: Barberry is harvested in November, but because North Khorasan is a mountainous region and in order to prevent frost, this crop is usually harvested in late September.
