Beautiful designs save Kermanshah kilim from oblivion
A Kermanshah kilim weaving artist said: Kermanshah kilim weaving is very old and the craftsmen of this province do not want this field to be forgotten.
Forouzan Yaghoubi stated the above: The problem that Kermanshahi artists face is unfamiliarity with the taste of the market.
He added: The kilims produced in this province are of very high quality, but the artists are facing difficulties in choosing the design.
The artist emphasized: There are many experts that the deputy of handicrafts of Kermanshah province can help the artists by using their opinions. In recent years, the market for carpets, rugs and other handicrafts has stagnated somewhat, Yaghoubi said. We hope that one day traditional arts and crafts will flourish again as in the past.
My grandmother used to weave kilims, but the designs used in the past are much more beautiful and attractive, she said, adding that she learned the trade from her mother.
Emphasizing that his grandmother’s designs were mentally woven on kilims, Yaghoubi added: I taught this field for 15 years in the construction jihad of Kermanshah province.
This kilim weaver from Kermanshah reminded: I provide the required raw materials from Kermanshah and I have no problem in preparing these materials.
In the end, he noted: Currently, in my workshop, I mostly produce embossed kilims and carpets in the form of paintings.
