Beginning of Damask rose harvest from Mehriz flower gardens
The director of Mehriz agricultural jihad, referring to the beginning of Damask rose harvest in this city, predicted that more than 100 tons of Damask rose will be harvested from Mehriz flower gardens in Yazd this year.
Mohammad Jafari clarified in this regard: Harvesting Damask rose from Mehriz flower gardens has started a few days ago and will continue until mid-June.
He added: The area under cultivation of Damask rose in Mehriz is 30 hectares and the average yield of Damask rose in Mehriz is three tons per hectare.
The official continued: Due to the lack of water in Damask rose, the farmers of the province have welcomed this product well.
He emphasized: the amount of rose production in Mehriz city is estimated at 270,000 liters and for every 10 tons of fresh flowers, about one kilogram of essential oil is obtained, most of which is exported to European countries.
Jihad Agriculture Public Relations of Mehriz city, Jafari added: in addition to preparing rose and unique perfume from Damask rose, its petals are also used in flavoring tea and seasoning of some foods.
