Beginning of date harvest from Jiroft groves

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Jiroft city announced the area under date palm cultivation of this city as 12 thousand hectares and said: 10 thousand and 100 hectares of this area is under fertile cultivation and the work of harvesting dates from these groves has started.

Mohammad Ali Seifi mentioned the date cultivars in Jiroft city including three cultivars of early, middle and late dates and added: the harvest of early dates starts from the beginning of July, the middle date starts from the end of September and the second date starts from the end of October.

He stated that the highest area under cultivation of Jiroft dates is among the middle cultivars: early cultivars including Alimehtari, Shokr and Negar, medium cultivars including Mazafati, Koloteh and Mardasang and late cultivars including Halili Rial, Ghorbani and Gordial Is.

Seifi announced the amount of dates harvested in each attack as six tons and added: it is expected that more than 60,000 tons of dates will be harvested from the groves of Jiroft city this year.

He mentioned the lack of date processing industries and packaging industries as the main problems in this city and stated: setting up processing industries has an effective role in increasing the added value of the produced product.

Seifi mentioned the organic nature of Jiroft date as its most important feature and noted: Dates produced in this city are produced without toxins and chemicals.
