Beginning of date harvest from the groves of southern Ilam
Abdolreza Bazdar stated: The southern regions of Ilam province, including the cities of Mehran, Dehloran, etc., are prone to growing dates.
He continued: These tropical regions have the ability to produce dates and the people of Ilam province and neighboring provinces use and benefit from these products.
The head of Ilam Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization added: Salehabad section of Mehran tropical city is also one of these tropical areas of the province, which has about 192 hectares of various orchards, including grapes, olives and date palms.
Bazdar stated: About 35 hectares of orchards in Salehabad district are made of palm trees, and the products of this region enter the consumer market annually.
The head of Ilam Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization said: the fertile orchards in this section are 30 hectares, which according to the experts, in the current harvest season, 75 tons of date products are produced and sent to the market from the groves of the region.
He continued: According to estimates, the economic value of date production for this amount of production is 2 billion and 625 million rials.
The official added: in Salehabad region, 20 people are directly and 50 people are indirectly involved in date production.
