Beginning of fig harvest in Hormozgan

Massoud Gargij stated: Hajiabad with an area of 288 hectares is the most important fig growing area in the province and the rest of the gardens are in the cities of Rudan, Bashagard and Bandar Abbas.

He added: Due to the recent droughts, this year’s production has not changed compared to last year.

The director of horticulture affairs of Hormozgan Jihad Agricultural Organization, referring to the lack of proper packaging industries, said: The main target markets are inside the province and most of the products are offered fresh.

Gargij continued: The fig harvest begins in early July and continues until mid-August.
