The technical deputy of Mashhad Agricultural Jihad said: This year in Mashhad, we have a 90% increase in the area under cultivation and a 175% increase in production due to this year’s rainfall compared to last year.

Saeed Khoshghamat stated: The amount of cumin cultivation has been developed this year and has increased from 135 hectares with a production of 60 tons to 255 hectares with a production of about 165 tons (650 kg per hectare).

He stated: Cumin is a valuable medicinal plant, fragrant and anti-flatulence seeds, the cultivation of which has been able to create employment for 3800 people.

Technical Deputy of Mashhad Agricultural Jihad, pointing out that the most important feature of this plant that has stabilized it in the cultivation pattern of the city and province is the short growing season of 100 to 120 days and its low water requirement, said: Mashhad is the port of cumin and desirable currency For export to other countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Hungary, Kuwait and Japan.

Khoshghamat emphasized: Cumin has various uses and its derivatives are more than one hundred types that are used in the pharmaceutical industry and are anti-flatulence, analgesic and carcinogenic.
