Beginning of hazelnut harvest from 3000 hectares of gardens in Qazvin province
The director of horticulture of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Qazvin province announced the start of hazelnut harvesting operations from 3230 hectares of orchards in this province.
Quoting the public relations of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Qazvin province, Ali Akbari announced that the hazelnut harvest has started from 3000 hectares, and predicted: this year, more than 3300 tons of hazelnut products will be harvested from this amount of cultivated area.
He estimated the average yield of this product about 1022 kg per hectare and specified: out of 3230 hectares of hazelnut orchards in the province; 3150 hectares of orchards are fertile and 80 hectares are infertile.
Horticulture director of Jihad Agricultural Organization of Qazvin province pointed out: The only area under cultivation of this crop in the province is in Alamut region of Qazvin city, which includes the villages of Hir, Viar, Yarud and Akojan.
Akbari pointed out that the village of Yarud in the Rajai region of the Alamut plain can be considered as the hazelnut hub of the province: Due to differences in the topography of the province and local masses, the time of harvest is from late August to late September.
Announcing that Qazvin province is the second largest hazelnut cultivation and production area in the country after Gilan province, he noted: the cultivars in the region include natives: Gerd Eshkor, Shastak, Zarabadi, Siah Alamut and Triangle, foreign cultivars including trends. The two pyrmonts, Fertil, Scorb, and Merville, and pollinating cultivars include Silver, Daviana, and Long, which cover about 70 percent of the orchards.
The director of horticulture of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Qazvin province stated: The dominant management of hazelnut orchards is traditional and most of the trees are grown in a multi-trunk method, which should be done with training and extension programs; Encouraged gardeners to grow single-trunked trees or a maximum of three to five trunks to achieve greater production.
Akbari; He considered the development of orchards in sloping lands and helping to develop orchards through subsidies for seedlings and reproductive organs as one of the ongoing programs of this management for hazelnut crop.
