Beginning of Khark date harvest from Khorramshahr palm trees

The director of Khorramshahr Agricultural Jihad said: Khark and Rotab harvest has started from Khorramshahr palm trees.

Nader Pourrakani explained: The date harvest has started earlier this year than in previous years. Rising temperature, drought and water salinity are the reasons for early harvest.

He added: In previous years, the date harvest would start on September 6, but for the reasons mentioned, the harvest this year will start in early September.

More than 6,000 tons of dates are expected to be harvested from date palms this year, he said. This year, the date harvest is about 30% lower than last year. Poor weather conditions, dust and water salinity are among the reasons for the decrease in production this year.
