The head of Jihad Keshavarzi of Charosa district, referring to the beginning of onion harvest from 30 hectares of farms in this district, said: According to forecasts, 900 tons of high quality and organic onion will be harvested.

Mohammad Gholi Zareian said: According to experts’ forecasts, between 25 and 30 tons will be harvested from each hectare.

He said: One of the problems in this sector is the lack of refrigeration to store the onions produced.

Zareian stated: considering the quality of this product, it is necessary for Jihad Keshavarzi to take the necessary measures to guarantee the purchase of onions from farmers.

He added: Due to the lack of cold storage and the lack of a proper shopping market, the profits from onion agriculture usually go to the pockets of brokers.

Planting onions in Charosa farms starts from December of each year and its harvest is in July.

Referring to the beginning of rice cultivation in this sector, Zareian said: 150 hectares will be under rice cultivation.

He announced the cultivated cultivars including local pollen and champagne.

Zareian added: it is predicted that 3.5 to 4 tons of rice will be harvested per hectare.

Charosa district is located in the center of Qaleh Raisi city with a population of 21 thousand people, 65 km from Dehdasht, the center of Kohgiluyeh city.
