Beginning of pistachio and walnut harvest in Ardestan
The director of Ardestan Agricultural Jihad announced the beginning of pistachio and walnut harvest from the gardens of this city.
Ali Tawfiqi stated that the area under pistachio and walnut cultivation in this city is 1,500 hectares and added: out of 4,700 hectares, the area under cultivation in the city is 1,200 hectares under pistachio cultivation and the rest is walnut.
He stated that the average harvest of walnuts from the orchards of this city is more than 3,000 kg per hectare and added: This year, due to drought and frost, the harvest of walnuts from the orchards of this city has decreased by 25%.
Director of Ardestan Agricultural Jihad, added: Walnut orchards are located in Barzavand, Hambrat, upper and lower districts of this city.
Tawfiqi stated that the average pistachio harvest per hectare is 1,600 kg and said: This year, due to frost, hail and drought, pistachio harvest from the orchards of this city has decreased by more than 40%.
He described the types of pistachios grown in this city as Ahadi, Koleghoochi, Akbari and Khandan. Tawfiqi stated: Pistachios produced in this city are processed and in addition to domestic consumption, they are also exported abroad.
