Beginning of pistachio harvest in Mahvalt
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Mahwalat city announced the beginning of pistachio harvest in this city.
Engineer Hossein Mohammadi, stating that Mahwalat city with 13,000 hectares of pistachio orchards is the first place of production and the area under cultivation of this product in Khorasan Razavi, pointed out: 42% of the province’s pistachios are produced in Mehvalat.
He added: Due to the diversity of pistachio cultivars, part of this production is exported to the provinces and neighboring countries, including the Persian Gulf countries, for fresh consumption, and another part, after processing, is in the form of dried pistachios in the consumption and export cycle. .
Engineer Mohammadi stated: At present, 14 pistachio processing terminals with 20 processing lines are active in the city, and with the participation of the private sector, pistachio packaging units will be launched in this city soon.
He pointed out that this year we forecast the production of 50,000 tons of pistachios in Mahwalat, noting: At the same time, the occurrence of drought in some orchards, shows that in some parts of the city, water and soil suitable for pistachio cultivation. Does not exist and must be moved to other crops, including pomegranates.
