The director of horticultural affairs of the North Khorasan Jihad Agricultural Organization announced the beginning of the saffron flower harvest in this province.

Mohammad Ali Sharikian said: 21 tons of this product is expected to be collected from 4,300 hectares of saffron farms in the province this year.

According to him, 19 tons of saffron were harvested from the fruit fields of North Khorasan last year.

Partners added: the amount of saffron harvest per hectare of farms in this province is seven kilograms.

He specified: North Khorasan is ranked third in the country in terms of the area under saffron cultivation and production of this product.

The official said: On the other hand, the quality of this product is high.
