Beginning of sesame harvest from 59 hectares of Sarayan farms

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi Sarayan announced the beginning of sesame harvest from 59 hectares of farms in the city.

Musa Soleimani specified: according to the average harvest of 500 kg per hectare, it is predicted that 29 tons of sesame will be harvested from the farms of this city by the end of the harvest season.

He said that the sesame harvesting operation in Sarayan city is done manually before the crop dries, adding: “After harvesting and drying, the seeds are separated from the pods by shaking the plants.”

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi Sarayan added: more than 110 farmers are active in the field of sesame cultivation.

Soleimani continued: sesame cultivation will start from the first half of July in Sarayan city and will be harvested in November.

He reminded: Sesame plant is one of the important oilseeds and edible seeds, the product of which is used in the food industry, confectionery and oil extraction, and contains protein and some vitamins.
