Beginning of sesame harvest in Hajiabad farms

The director of Hajiabad Agricultural Jihad announced the beginning of the sesame harvest season in the farms of this city and said: it is predicted that more than 1400 tons of this crop will be harvested this year.

Mohammad Ali Alipour enumerated the amount of cultivated area this year as 1200 hectares and added: the production yield is 2.1 tons per hectare.

He considered the amount of cultivated area last year as 950 hectares and said: 250 hectares of cultivated area has increased compared to the previous year.

The director of Hajiabad agricultural jihad pointed out: Ashkara, Farghan, Tarom, Shamil Bala, Ahmadi villages were named as the main cultivation points of this product in Hajiabad city.

The official clarified: sesame harvesting is done manually and manpower, which is used during the harvest period for unemployed youth in the same area.

Among the advantages of sesame crop are resistance to water shortage and short growing period, crop rotation with cereals, suitable replacement with corn to observe the cultivation pattern, planting without plowing and low production, processing and production costs of halva and oil.

Alipour considered Hajiabad city as the first province in terms of cultivation and harvest area and noted: The sesame harvest season is counted from the second half of October to the end of October, this crop is cultivated in most villages covered by the city from July.
