The director of agriculture of Jihad Keshavarzi of Ilam province announced the beginning of sesame planting operations in the lands of Mehran and Badreh counties.

Engineer Mohammad Ali Aghdasi stated: The area under sesame cultivation in Mehran city is over 50 hectares, which has a yield of 900 kg per hectare.

He stated that it is predicted that more than 45 tons of sesame with an economic value of more than 450 million Tomans will be harvested, adding: the employment rate in this field is estimated to be more than 110 people.

The director of agriculture of Jihad Keshavarzi of the province pointed out: This year, 30 hectares of potential and fertile agricultural lands of Badreh city have been allocated for sesame oil cultivation.

Aqdasi continued: the area under cultivation of this product has increased compared to last year and it is expected that 27 tons of sesame will be produced and marketed from these farms.

He pointed out: Due to the better water consumption efficiency of this product compared to other products such as cucumber, corn and alfalfa, it can be an economical product.
