Beginning of walnut harvest from Ziaabad gardens

The expert of Jihad Keshavarzi of Ziaabad district announced the beginning of walnut harvest from the orchards of this district.

Touraj Rahmani said: this section has 316 hectares of walnut orchards, of which 300 hectares are currently fertile.

He estimated the yield of walnuts per hectare at 2800 kg and added: it is predicted that 840 tons of walnuts will be harvested from the orchards of Ziaabad district by the end of October this year.

Rahmani noted that about 20 to 25 percent of the walnut crop is consumed fresh and 80 percent is exported to other provinces and neighboring countries.

Paper, chat, crow’s tip and clusters are the most important cultivars of Ziaabad walnut, among which paper walnut has higher quality, durability and reputation.
