The market of handmade carpets in the current world market does not belong only to Iran, but the main challenge of Iranian carpets is to reduce
our country’s share of this market, the main reason is the non-competitiveness of our production, because the price of handmade carpets
even in our country is It is increasing.

Faizollah Arabsorkhi – Head of the National Carpet Center of Iran, referring to the competitive problems and advantages of the production and export of Iranian handmade carpets, said that the increase in the price of handmade carpets in the country is a sign of non-competitive products.

According to Arab Sorkhi, high wages and the lack of concentration of carpet production have made it difficult to achieve mass and competitive production.

He further mentioned the quality of handmade carpet products as another major challenge facing this industry.

He pointed to the measures taken by the National Carpet Center of Iran to prevent the copying of Iranian carpets and the poor production
of handmade carpets and said:
In the global carpet market, it is possible that 25% of the carpets produced in countries that copy Iranian carpets are with Iranian designs,
but The rest of the products of these countries, especially China, are with Chinese designs.
Therefore, not all carpet problems can be attributed to copying other countries or damaging Iranian carpets.

According to the head of the National Carpet Center of Iran, the first problem of handmade carpets is that the producers of carpets
are not organized and 95% of the production of this export product is done at home.

He emphasized that this center intends to form a union of Iranian carpet producers to solve this problem soon and by creating this union,
will guide the producers of this industry.

According to Arabsorkhi, most of Iran’s handmade carpet exports are commercial,
and for this reason our advantages over other competing countries are limited.

In response to the question why the National Carpet Center does not offer a written program to promote Iranian
handmade carpets in world markets, he said:
Iranian handmade carpets are advertised by manufacturing companies and the National Carpet Center with advertising machines in Europe
and the United States in Negotiations are underway.

According to Arabsorkhi, its promotion will not change the situation much until the production of handmade carpets is organized.

He pointed out that the production of handmade carpets in the country is low, adding: When production is low,
it does not determine whether advertising will be effective for it or not, and it is very likely that it will benefit other competitors.

The head of the National Carpet Center of Iran also said that the export bonus of handmade carpets is less than that of machine-made carpets
or even other goods. The prize that is paid is very small compared to the serious problems of this industry, he said.
Under these conditions and with a salary of $ 2.5, no one is willing to produce and export anymore.

If carpet exports have been steadily declining over the past 10 years and domestic prices have risen,
it shows that the industry has no advantage over exports, he said.

According to him, when we talk about advantage, it does not mean that if we do not have an advantage in exporting carpets, it means bad,
but it indicates that the ability and strength of our country’s manpower for better and more industrial products has grown.
So we should not worry too much about why a carpet weaver will give up weaving and pursue another job.
