Cultivation and production of Damask rose is increasing in Gilan
The director of horticulture affairs of Gilan Jihad Agricultural Organization said: until the end of the sixth program, 1500 hectares of sloping lands of Gilan should be planted with medicinal plants, of which Damask rose is a part.
Manouchehr Parsafar stated that an average of eight and a half tons of Damask roses are harvested annually in 16 hectares of Golestan province: 8640 liters of roses are obtained from Damask roses harvested.
Parsafar, stating that Damask rose is one of the oldest and most important rose species that takes three years to reach the economic flowering stage, continued: Considering the potential lands and facilities in Gilan, it is possible to increase 50 hectares of Damask Golestan annually. There is a rose in this province.
The director of horticulture affairs of Gilan Jihad Agricultural Organization stated: In addition to Shaft, Rudsar, Amlash, Siahkal, Rudbar, Talesh and Astara heights are suitable areas for Damask rose cultivation in Gilan.
Parsafar said: According to the communication plan for the development of medicinal plants, the Sixth Development Plan, by the end of this program, medicinal plants should be cultivated in more than 1500 hectares of sloping lands of Gilan, of which Damask rose is a part.
He added: This year, it is planned to cultivate medicinal plants in 330 hectares of potential lands in Gilan, and the share of Damask rose is 50 hectares.
