Asghar Khoshkho, director of Torbat-e-Jam Agricultural Jihad, said: In the current crop year, 1,600 hectares of cumin were planted in Torbat-e-Jam, which compared to last year, we have witnessed a 10% decrease in cumin cultivation.

Referring to the benefits of growing cumin, he continued: low cost of preparation, planting, holding and harvesting of cumin compared to other crops in the region such as wheat, short growing period, no need for heavy irrigation due to the adaptation of the growing season to rainfall The climate of the region is the absence of common pests and diseases in the region.

The director of Torbat-e-Jam agricultural jihad, referring to the problems of planting cumin in this city, said: the lack of a guaranteed purchase trustee, the lack of price stability and processing and packaging workshops are among the problems of planting this crop; Also, due to the decrease in the price of cumin in the market, we witnessed the losses of cumin farmers in the previous crop year, and this led to a 10% decrease in cumin cultivation.
