Cultivation of Damask rose seedlings in Taftan city
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Taftan city of Sistan and Baluchestan said: for the first time in Taftan city, Damask rose seedlings were planted on 10 hectares of agricultural lands of this city.
Fazlullah Kurdi added: Considering the entry into the third decade of drought, one of the most important programs of this management is to change the cultivation pattern towards products with low water consumption and at the same time fast yields with high added value and export-oriented 10,000 Damask rose seedlings were distributed among the farmers of the city this year.
He stated: Due to the fact that the average yield of 1.5 to 2.5 tons of fresh petals per hectare of Damask rose orchards and for the production of each liter of rose is usually used one kilogram of petals and also for the production of one liter of essential oil Damask rose requires the use of four tons of petals, so this product is very expensive, so that every year the rose and its essential oil are exported to the countries of the Persian Gulf and the Arab countries.
The director of Taftan Agricultural Jihad stated: The main products of Damask rose are rose, essential oil and dried petals, which are used in pharmaceutical, perfumery, health and cosmetic products and food industries.
He added: This amount of cultivated area can create a dramatic change in the production of this medicinal plant and this process will continue, God willing.
In the end, Fazlullah Kurdi added: Considering the climate of the city and the management plans of Taftan Agricultural Jihad based on the construction of sweat factories for medicinal plants, it is hoped that this city will become the center of Damask rose and rose production in the province.
