Date exports increase to 150,000 tons
It is predicted that in the Fifth Development Plan, the export of dates will increase to 150,000 tons.
Engineer Reza Fotouhi, Director General of the Fruit Affairs Office, announced the news and added: With the plans made, it is predicted that in the last year of the Fifth Development Plan, the export of dates will reach 150,000 tons and be worth one hundred million dollars.
According to him, the value of each kilogram of dates during the Fifth Development Plan will reach an average of about one dollar. Fotouhi assessed the situation of date production in the date-rich provinces of the country as good and stated: 95% of pollination operations have been carried out in the provinces so far.
At the same time, he estimated: in the absence of possible problems, the amount of date production this year will increase to one million and 100 thousand tons.
The Director General of the Fruit Affairs Office pointed out: Kerman province and Jiroft and Kahnooj regions, with the production of 340 thousand tons of dates, have the highest production last year.
He announced the area under date cultivation in the country as 250,000 hectares. Regarding the export of dates last year, Fotouhi also acknowledged that during the first 11 months of last year, nearly 79,000 tons of dates worth $ 79.5 million were exported from the country.
