Date harvest has decreased by 50% in Bam city
With the beginning of the date harvest season in Bam city and due to the recent droughts in the province, the harvest of this product has decreased by 50%.
Etemadi, the governor of Bam, said: the date harvest will start from 16,000 groves in this city and will continue until the end of September.
He added: Unprecedented increase in temperature of high-speed wind sports, the complication of date cluster withering and droughts of recent years has reduced the yield of Bam dates by 50% and has caused 55 billion Rials in damages to palm growers.
The governor of Bam also stated: about 40,000 tons of dates will be harvested in this city this year.
It should be mentioned that Bam city has 20,600 hectares under date cultivation, of which 16,000 hectares are fertile.
