The head of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Kerman province, said: it is necessary to replace new and resistant date cultivars in the east of this province instead of the current dates.

Abbas Mollai, at the Iranian Date Festival in Bam, added: Dates are among the products that face storage and transportation problems, which can be avoided if additional cultivars are replaced with new ones.

He added: out of 800 thousand hectares of agricultural land in this province, there are 500 thousand hectares of gardens and therefore Kerman is a garden province.

The head of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Kerman province stated: walnut crop with 19 thousand hectares of cultivated area, pistachio with 300 thousand hectares and dates with 64 thousand hectares have the first rank in the country.

Malai considered the complication of date drying in the east of Kerman province as one of the harmful factors of this product and stated: This year, due to the decrease in air temperature, little damage was inflicted on palm trees in this field.

The head of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Kerman province reminded: the pest of chains is another harmful factor of dates in the east of Kerman province and in addition to extensive research to identify the causes of these pests in the physiology department should work.

He pointed to the aerial spraying schemes in order to fight the pest in Kerman province and emphasized the uselessness of such ways to deal with pests and said: From an environmental point of view, we must consider integrated pest control methods.

Mullahi emphasized on further research in the field of pest control of strategic date crop and said: we should work harder to make date crop organic or semi-organic.

He said: the supply of raw dates should be reduced and the processing of dates should be considered more because it has a significant impact on employment and income.

He pointed out that the city of Bam has four areas of aqueducts, said: Droughts in recent years have caused a sharp drop in water in groundwater aquifers.

The head of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Kerman province also said: with the participation of 20 farmers, the pressurized irrigation project in their fields and gardens will be done 100% free of charge, which will reduce water abstraction from groundwater aquifers.

He stressed the need to mechanize systems for harvesting and controlling date pests and added: In this way, production costs are reduced and the price of the product becomes acceptable to producers and consumers.
