The head of the Tea Organization announced a decrease in the production of green tea leaves compared to last year due to weather conditions and said: about 67% of the demands of tea growers have been paid and the rest will be credited to their accounts as soon as funding is provided.
Mohammadoli Roozbehan stated: Since the beginning of the green tea leaf harvest season, 89 thousand tons of this product have been purchased from tea growers worth more than 173 billion Tomans, which is about 114 billion and 500 million Tomans (equivalent to 67% of the price of green tea leaves). It is credited to the producers account and the rest is paid as soon as the credit is secured.
He added: The fourth China of green tea leaves will start soon and according to the climatic conditions and the amount of rainfall, it is predicted that this year tea production will face a relative decrease compared to last year, although this amount has been accompanied by a good growth compared to 2015. .
The head of the Tea Organization said: This year, the weather conditions and rainfall conditions were very different from last year, and in some tea-producing areas and gardens less than 10% of last year’s rainfall occurred, which due to the rainy season of more than 95% of gardens, a direct impact. Roozbehan stated that last year was a special and unique year in terms of weather and climate conditions, adding: Last year, 50% higher than the average rainfall of the last 50 years, but this year it was less than the average; So that our rain this year was such that there was a drought in some areas. Of course, due to government measures and support in order to revive the gardens and carry out agricultural operations, we were able to reduce the consequences and effects as much as possible.
He said that the claims of tea growers, part of which goes to the government and some to the factories, will be met and paid soon.
