Distribution of 44,000 garden thyme plants among farmers in North Khorasan

The Deputy Minister of Plant Production of the North Khorasan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: For the first time, 44,000 thyme plants will be distributed among farmers and gardeners in the province.

Khodad Abedi said: Thyme is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows wild in the form of thick bushes on dry slopes and between boulders in the mountains.

He stated that the climatic conditions of the region; This species can be cultivated in habitats where thyme is wild and native, he added: This year, for the first time in the province, 44,000 garden thyme plants will be distributed among farmers and gardeners in the province.

He added: These plants will be planted in Shoghan, Bojnourd-Esfarayen and other areas that are native to Thyme.

He stated that the purpose of cultivating medicinal plants is to increase productivity and produce herbal medicines, including thyme extract.

He said: high humidity and irrigation is not suitable for the growth of this plant, but reduces the quality and quantity of plant extracts.

350 species of medicinal plants have been identified in the fields of natural resources of North Khorasan.
