Vice President of the Association of Barberry and Saffron Producers and Exporters of South Khorasan announced the beginning of barberry harvest in this province as the only producer of this product and predicted: more than 10 thousand tons of dried barberry will be produced in this province this year.

Ali Hosseini stated: Last year, 9,000 tons of dried barberry were produced in South Khorasan province.

Hosseini, pointing out that 300 tons of barberry were exported last year, said: This year, due to the implementation of the plan to improve the quality of this product, exports will be doubled last year.

Vice President of the Association of Saffron and Barberry Producers and Exporters of South Khorasan Province predicted: At least 600 tons of barberry will be exported this year at a rate of 10 to 12 dollars, which will be more than twice as much as last year for our country.

According to him, last year, a kilo of barberry was bought in world markets for $ 15 to $ 17, which has reduced the purchase price of this product due to the exchange rate of buyers.

Hosseini said: the first export shipment will be sent to Germany this year.

The vice president of the Association of Saffron and Barberry Producers and Exporters of South Khorasan Province stated that the price of each kilogram of high quality barberry in the domestic market is 10 thousand Tomans.

Iran is the first producer of this product in the world with an annual production of about 14,000 tons of barberry. .
