Doubling of Hormozgan date exports outside Iran
The head of the Hormozgan Date Association said: more than a thousand tons of dates will be exported from Hormozgan this year, which is twice the same period last year.
Ebrahim Pourheidari predicted in a press conference this morning that the export of this amount of dates would be worth 2 million dollars.
He stated that Hormozgan dates are exported to Malaysia, Central Asia, Russia, Europe and the UAE, said: Last year, 450 tons of dates were exported from Hormozgan, of which 50% of dates exported in 1390 Pyaram, the most important export of Hormozgan and the rest of high quality varieties The dates were Mazafati, Crete, Khasui and Mardasang, and these exports were valued at about one million and 30 thousand dollars.
Pointing out that there are 50 varieties of dates in Hormozgan, eight of which are export dates, Pourheidari clarified: 3% of the country’s date exports are allocated to Hormozgan and 5,000 tons of Pyaram dates are harvested annually from 4,300 hectares of Hajiabad groves. .
He declared the groves of Hormozgan 36,000 hectares and predicted that 150,000 tons of dates would be harvested this year, which is seven percent more than the same period last year.
Hormozgan ranks second in terms of palm cultivation area and third in the country in terms of crop production.
