Echium amoenum extract has antidepressant effects
According to the findings of a dissertation, alcoholic extract of Echium amoenum has a high amount of significant antidepressant effects.

Dr. Ghancheh, under the guidance of Dr. Hossein Hosseinzadeh and Dr. Seyed Adel Moallem, states in this dissertation: Immobility in water is a symbol of depression in this study on antidepressants in mice that are inhibited by the uptake of norepinephrine. They increase jumping in mice without affecting swimming movements.
Toxicity studies of Echium amoenum extracts show that both alcoholic and aqueous extracts, plant shoots, have similar toxicity and the amount of aqueous extract in low doses and alcoholic extract in high doses show significant antidepressant effects.
The results of this paper show: To differentiate the antidepressant effects from the effects of physical activity, using the open box test, the results did not show significant changes in the movements of the animal receiving alcoholic extract, but aqueous extract in high amounts reduces motor activity. .
The effects of the extracts are similar to those of pramine, and they may affect the neurotransmitters serotonin and norepinephrine.
In this dissertation, induction of pulmonary hypertension and right ventricular hypertrophy in animal species and carcinogenicity in animals are other effects of this species of Echium amoenum and can lead to hepatic and pulmonary toxicity through dermal absorption.
People taking herbal medicines or herbal teas containing Echiume are at risk for developing acute or chronic pulmonary and hepatotoxicity, including acute hepatic myocardial infarction, inflammation of the lung tissue, and increased pulmonary hypertension and heart failure.
According to this research, the leaves and flowering branches of this plant have emollient effects and are useful for relieving cough. The decoction of the flowering branches of this plant is analgesic, diaphoretic and expectorant, and its flowers are used externally as a skin emollient.
This plant is also used topically to heal fissures on the hands and wounds and the hot aqueous extract of the seeds of this plant increases lactation in lactating mothers. Plant biological activities on central depression, hypotension, antitumor, anticonvulsant, antigonadotropins have also been tested and its positive effects have been recorded.
