Export of 24,000 tons of dates from Sistan and Baluchestan

The supervisor of Sistan and Baluchestan customs said: last year, 24,000 tons of dates were exported from the province.

Tahereh Hamoononvard added: the value of these exports was $ 29 million.

The observer of Sistan and Baluchestan customs continued: the exported dates show a growth of nearly 200% in terms of weight and 420% in value in the last eight years.

Dates are very important as a high-energy food in the world, and special attention should be paid to its exports, given the consumer markets, Hamunnvard said.

He added: There is still a problem in the marketing and packaging of dates produced in the province, and by solving this problem, we can see the development of date exports from Sistan and Baluchestan to other provinces and abroad.

He said: Sistan and Baluchestan is one of the most important and strategic areas of date production in the country, but despite having the largest area under cultivation and the second largest producer of this product in Iran due to lack of proper investment for packaging and processing with the names of other provinces. Exported for domestic and foreign consumption.

Sistan and Baluchestan Customs Supervisor added: Dates are one of the most important export items in the country in terms of trade, which due to the limitation of date production areas in the world, the possibility of competing with this product is much less than other export products.
