Ahmad Ali Babaei stated: “In 1997, carpet weavers’ insurance was approved by the parliament, and carpet weavers were able to enjoy the benefits of social security insurance.”
He pointed to the lack of proper government planning in paying premiums based on a specific and defined mechanism and added: “Because the conditions for insureds and carpet weavers were not properly defined, many people introduced themselves as weavers to cover this type of insurance.”
He announced the cancellation of carpet weaving insurance for 2,000 people in the province and specified: “According to the inspections and expertise carried out, this number of people were not carpet weavers, and for this reason, their insurance has been canceled.”
The head of the carpet department of the Hamadan Province Industry, Mining and Trade Organization stated that the jobs of weaving, knitting, drawing and drawing, polishing, weaving and dyeing include carpet weaving insurance, adding that 18,000 people are currently covered by carpet weaving insurance.
Ali Babaei stated that Hamedan province is far from the criteria for issuing hand-woven carpets, noting that during the last 10 months of this year, one billion and 700 million dollars of carpets have been exported from the province.
Noting that the export market is currently in recession, he said: “Refugees were collecting old carpets and repairing them for export.”
The official said: “Support for the production of hand-woven carpets in Iran and the province is low, and this is while the necessary facilities should be provided to weavers so that they can provide raw materials for hand-woven carpets.”
