Exports of handicrafts increase or decrease ?!
Despite the fact that the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of the country has repeatedly emphasized the growth of handicraft exports, the deputy head of the Trade Development Organization of Iran announces a 14% decrease in exports of carpets and handicrafts.
Although carpets are not included in the handicrafts collection, efforts are being made to bring the two fields closer together, and even their export statistics will be announced jointly by customs.
In addition, the city of Tabriz has been registered as a global carpet city by the World Handicrafts Council due to its active carpet weaving workshops. Even the national handicrafts fairs, which are the largest trade event in the field, have been held in the last two years, alongside the carpet fair, to make a significant improvement in terms of sales and visitors.
Pouya Mahmoudian, Deputy Minister of Handicrafts, has repeatedly emphasized in her speeches the general growth of exports and the well-being of handicrafts, and has stated in her remarks: And has been associated with 9.5 percent growth compared to the first six months of 1396.

However, Razi Haji Aghamiri, head of the Export Development Commission of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, recently announced at a press conference that the third exhibition of the export capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran has reduced the export of carpets and handicrafts by 14%.
He attributed the decrease in the value of carpet exports to more than $ 100 million due to domestic and foreign factors, and cited problems related to financial transfers resulting from sanctions and the implementation of foreign exchange contracts as factors in reducing exports of Iranian products.
