Forecast of production of 5 tons of farmed caviar per year
The Deputy Minister of Aquaculture of the Fisheries Organization of Iran said: It is expected that by the end of this year, five tons of caviar and three thousand tons of sturgeon meat will be produced and exported in the country’s farms.
Hossein Ali Abdolhai, in an interview with Mana, referring to the development of sturgeon farms in the country, said: Currently, the number of sturgeon farms in the whole country has reached 116 farms, while in 1992, only 30 sturgeon farms There was in the country.
Deputy Minister of Aquaculture of the Fisheries Organization of Iran, noting that during the first 10 months of the year, three tons of farmed caviar has been produced and exported in the country, acknowledged: It is expected to see a total of five tons of farmed caviar in the country by the end of the year.
The official in charge of the Fisheries Organization of Iran, stating that most of the caviar produced is exported to European countries and a small part is consumed in the domestic market, said: creating new markets for the export of farmed caviar is on the agenda of exporters.
Referring to the doubling of the production of farmed caviar this year, he said: Last year, about two and a half tons of farmed caviar were produced and exported.
The Deputy Minister of Aquaculture of the Fisheries Organization of Iran announced: The export of sturgeon and caviar meat has a good share among the exports of other aquatic animals in the country, which we hope to see a more significant increase in this production sector every year.
Increasing the demand for investment in the establishment of sturgeon farms
The official in charge of the Fisheries Organization of Iran said: Due to the increase in the dollar rate and the subsequent significant increase in caviar rates, the desire of private sector investors to produce more caviar has increased by creating more farms for sturgeon farming.
Regarding the production of sturgeon meat, Abdul Hai said: Since the beginning of this year, 2,500 tons of sturgeon meat have been produced, which is expected to increase to 3,000 tons by the end of the year.
According to the Deputy Minister of Aquaculture of the Fisheries Organization of Iran, due to its popularity in the export sector, the elephant fish species has the highest production among other sturgeon species in breeding centers and more focus on the production of this sturgeon species in the centers. Noting that the sturgeon export market is very prosperous, he said: Considering the high demand of private sector investors and the memorandum concluded with the Foundation for the Underprivileged, we intend to expand the necessary licenses to increase sturgeon farms as much as possible. .
Referring to the desire of foreign investors to participate in sturgeon breeding, Abdul Hai said: In this regard, we will benefit from the participation of foreign investors in sturgeon breeding in the future.
Deputy Minister of Aquaculture of the Fisheries Organization of Iran, stating that the production of caviar in a farm usually takes seven to 9 years, clarified: Therefore, the production boom in farms is gradual and every year we see an increase in the amount of caviar in fish farms We will be the sturgeon of the country.
He pointed out: According to the Sixth Development Plan, 10,000 tons of meat and 100 tons of caviar are to be produced annually in the country, and we hope to see this important in the Sixth Development Plan in the near future, followed by the prosperity of the aquaculture industry.
The official in charge of the Iranian Fisheries Organization, referring to the activities of 116 sturgeon farms in the country, said: It is predicted that in the next few years we will see a great leap in the field of sturgeon farming in our country.
According to him, most of the sturgeon farms are active in Gilan, Mazandaran and Golestan provinces, but in other non-coastal parts of the country, sturgeon farms have also been licensed, which indicates the development of this part of the aquaculture industry in Country level.
The Deputy Minister of Aquaculture of the Fisheries Organization of Iran also announced the cooperation of the Foundation for the Underprivileged with the fisheries departments of Gilan, Mazandaran and Golestan provinces to establish at least five sturgeon farms in each of the northern provinces and acknowledged: Soon we will see an increase in large farms. We will also have sturgeon next to small farms in the country.
According to Abdolhai, private sector investors who intend to enter the sturgeon production sector can easily benefit from the banking facilities provided by the Fisheries Organization of Iran for setting up farms.
He pointed out that soon we will see the establishment of sturgeon breeding centers by the private sector, said: Currently, sturgeon fry are produced in breeding centers affiliated to the Fisheries Organization of Iran and distributed among fish breeding centers.
