Forecast of production of more than two thousand tons of hazelnuts in Mazandaran
The director of horticulture of Mazandaran Agricultural Jihad said: it is predicted that 2,400 tons of hazelnuts will be produced in Mazandaran this year.
Taghi Shokouhi stated: The area of hazelnut orchards in the province is 1,615 hectares and the yield of this product is 1,800 kilos per hectare. It is predicted that 2,400 tons of hazelnuts will be produced in Mazandaran this year. The first hazelnut harvest in the province is late August to early October this year.
Shokouhi, stating that water shortage in the upstream areas is one of the main problems of hazelnut gardeners, said: 85% of grants from the government in order to develop a drip irrigation system will be provided to gardeners in Mazandaran.
He specified: Mazandaran gardeners should refer to the management of agricultural jihad in the cities of the province in order to receive facilities in the discussion of improving and reviving hazelnut orchards, in the form of facilities of the agricultural development working group.
The director of horticulture of Mazandaran Agricultural Jihad added: 4 million Tomans per hectare for the development of drip irrigation system and 5.5 million Tomans per hectare for the construction of hazelnut orchards in the upstream areas are among the facilities of hazelnut gardeners in the province; Mazandaran ranks third in the country in hazelnut production.
