Frost causes 70% of barberry damage in South Khorasan
The director of the South Khorasan Agricultural Insurance Fund said: Since the beginning of the current crop year, 70% of the damage to the barberry crop has been related to frost.
Javad Ghancheh stated: During the noticeable decrease in temperature in recent days in the province, some barberry orchards in the province have been damaged.
He added: Due to the fact that many farmers have not yet harvested their barberry, their crops have been damaged.
The director of the South Khorasan Agricultural Insurance Fund stated: In Hajiabad, 15% of barberry is still left, and in Birjand and Sarbisheh, about 40% of barberry is left on the trees.
Ghancheh continued: in some areas, up to 50% of barberry seeds from recent frosts on the tree have been damaged and burst.
He pointed to the harmful factors of barberry in South Khorasan and added: the occurrence of cold and frost in April, the occurrence of hail, flood, storm and heat in spring and summer and the occurrence of autumn frost are the harmful factors of barberry in the province.

Ghancheh stated: In the cropping year of 1397 in South Khorasan, 9369 barberry farmers and farmers have insurance policies.
He stated: out of about 15,000 hectares of barberry orchards in the province, 4,105 hectares are covered by agricultural insurance.
The director of the South Khorasan Agricultural Insurance Fund stated: At present, new barberry insurance tariffs have been notified to the province, so farmers who want to insure their orchards should refer to the insurance service offices.
Force factors such as hail, earthquakes, cold, frost, floods and storms are covered by insurance, which are subject to compensation, Ghancheh said.
He reminded: information of all damages will be collected and compensation amounts will be paid to the damaged farmers and exploiters who are covered by insurance.
