Gilan ranks first in producing quality rice in the country

The head of Gilan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: Gilan province is the first in the country in producing quality rice.

Ali Darjani during his visit to the border port of Astara and after participating in the meeting of the working group of the Guilan Non-Oil Export Council, which was held in the presence of provincial managers and businessmen chaired by the governor of Guilan in the meeting hall of the governorate, said: 20 million people in the country are produced by paddy farmers in Gilan province.

He added: More than 238 thousand hectares of the province’s lands have been planted with rice and we are ready to have more than 1.2 million tons of paddy with very good and suitable quality and with a healthy crop approach.

Referring to the statistics of research centers, meteorological forecast and water storage in dams, Darjani noted: It is predicted that this year we will have about 10,000 tons more production than last year.

He estimated the production of white rice in the province at 750,000 tons and specified: in the discussion of mechanization, 67% of transplanting was done using machines.
