Deputy Minister of Cultural Affairs and Communications of Yazd Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization said: Weaving is one of the handicrafts of Yazd province, which used to be very popular in Taft, Mehriz, Nir, Hanza, Bahabad and Baghdad Abad villages and now only in Mehriz 14 people Weavers are busy. Mohammad Reza Shoja stated: There is no weaving industry as a workshop in Mehriz and these craftsmen, who are over 40 years old, weave a weaving in their homes in seven days.
He said: In order to prevent this handicraft from being found only in decorations and museums, students interested in handicrafts, especially quilts, can be trained for free in Mehriz educational centers.
Shoja added: In this regard, Yazd Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization, in cooperation with Yazd Handicrafts, buys woven quilts and many tourists bring quilts as a handicraft for their friends.
He mentioned the lack of a sales market, the lack of desire of young people to learn this handicraft, the change in the consumption pattern of people’s shoes, the problems of keeping the quill due to being white and cloth, and the provision of materials needed in its original form.
According to Shojae, cotton cloth, leather (cow and camel), spun yarn, tragacanth, indigo ink and nails are among the raw materials for making quince, which we have in two designs and shapes, plastic quilt and quilt quilt. He added: In a flat bed cloth, first the bed is beaten with an old damp cloth and after being spun with cow leather, tragacanth and yarn are connected to each other.
Shoja said: Giveh with rubber bed is more durable and in the past it was used more by farmers and cloth giveh due to its more delicacy was used in local celebrations. He added: Currently, in the weaving weaving, the bed weaving stage is done by men and the weaving stage is woven by women.
