Grape harvest began from the vineyards of North Khorasan
The technical and executive deputy of the North Khorasan Agricultural Jihad Organization announced the beginning of the grape harvest from the vineyards of this province.
Engineer Alireza Basiri said: There are more than 18,000 hectares of vineyards in North Khorasan, of which 17,640 hectares are fertile and 360 hectares of nurseries are infertile.
Basiri pointed out: Khalili and Yaghooti grape varieties, which are harvested in August, have an area of 20 hectares of these vineyards.
He added: 99% of the vineyards in this province are dedicated to late varieties known as Bidaneh, Soltani and Kolahdari.
He stated that the average harvest of grapes in this province is 12 tons of blue grapes and 5 tons of rainfed grapes per hectare and said: Unfortunately, in the current crop year, rainfed grapes do not have a good yield due to the severe reduction of rainfall in winter.
The technical and executive deputy of the North Khorasan Jihad Agricultural Organization predicted: about 120,000 tons of grapes will be harvested from the vineyards of this province this year.
Basiri named Soltani grape as the most famous grape of the province, which is turned into raisins and exported to other countries, and the grape of this region is also transported to the northern provinces for fresh food.
