Grape harvest from the vineyards of Markazi province began with the forecast of 252,350 tons of grapes.
Engineer Masoud Hashemi Tabatabai, director of agriculture and horticulture of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Markazi province, added: The area under cultivation of vineyards in this province is projected at 45,000 hectares this year, which is an increase of five percent compared to last year.
Tabatabai continued: The highest purchases of pomegranate orchard products are pistachios in Saveh and in Arak, grapes, almonds and walnuts.
He stated that the highest production of grapes is in Arak city and the lowest production is related to Ashtian and added: The highest area under cultivation of vineyards in the province is dedicated to the cultivation of Bidaneh, Asgari, Yaghouti, Khalili and Farrokhi grapes.
Of the total grapes harvested in Markazi province, 7,000 tons of raisins are produced and the rest are consumed in Markazi province and other provinces of the country, he said.
Hashemi mentioned the insured products of the agricultural sector in the central province of grapes, almonds, walnuts, pistachios and apples and added: The total credit of horticultural products is 660 million Tomans and 240 hectares of the province’s lands are allocated to horticultural products.
Also, Engineer Zarei, an expert in horticulture at the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Markazi Province, mentioned the study and construction of infrastructure facilities for greenhouse complexes, increasing the production of flowers and ornamental and medicinal plants, improving the quality of garden export products and improving gardens as current provincial projects. The plan to improve and develop pomegranate and olive groves is one of the national plans this year.
