Grape juice is a rich source of antioxidants
New research from the University of Glasgow in Scotland has shown that grape juice, especially red grapes,
has a much higher amount of an antioxidant called polyphenols than other fruits.
Antioxidants are compounds found in fruits and vegetables and play a protective role against the human body against free radical damage.
Free radicals are toxic compounds in the human body that have been linked to some diseases, such as cancer and diabetes.
Red grape juice contains the most polyphenols, followed by apple juice and cranberry juice (a type of fruit from the berry family). Orange juice is at the bottom of the list.
